An Unplanned Project

Good Morning!

Yesterday I decided to do some sewing in the morning before my classes. After doing some really basic pleating on my purse, I decided to try some other pleating stuff with the same fabric. The project I thought up at the beginning was not what I ended up making, though. I ended up making this cute clutch. I did all the pleating, and then realized it would be much better as a clutch than what I originally planned for.

You can see I stitched down the centre of the white parts. I thought I should have the pleats held together in a few places, not just at the edges. The lining took a really long time. {Actually, it was the zipper, more on that in a minute.} I made pockets along the inside of the lining, so that you could organize things in there.

The zipper took so long because I didn't want it to be right along the top, I wanted it inside a little bit. I'm sure I could have found a little tutorial online on how to do it properly, but I just went for it. It turned out really well, but it took a long time and a lot of work!

And I attached a little loop of ribbon as the wrist strap. I thought of making it out of the fabric, but I really like the difference in colour. Here's so you can see the size:

That is really cute :)

I understand the amount of work in that, as I am a seamstress too! :)

But what a sense of satisfaction and before classes too, you are a power house, girl.

Have a lovely day, T. :)

Thanks so much, T.

By the way, I think it's totally adorable that you put so many smiley faces in everything you say. I always find myself wanting to do the same, because just responding in text can be very impersonal. :)

Such a cute clutch! You make me wish I had my sewing machine out here in Calgary with me!

Love reading your blog!

Thanks so much, Sara! And maybe you need to get a sewing machine there for yourself, I can't imagine living without mine! :)
