Kid Collections: Being Yourself

Monday, July 23, 2012

I want to introduce this new feature before we get going. Being a parent is so fun and so important. There are so many things that I want to teach my kids that sometimes it's a little overwhelming. Since kids learn in many ways, I thought it would be fun to put together collections of books, songs, activities, and whatever else I could find, all on particular topics. And if you have any resources on the theme of my posts, I'd love for you to share those in a comment!

The idea of being yourself is near and dear to my heart because it's something I have always struggled with. Having an older sister meant that from the beginning, I always wanted to be just like someone else. I didn't seem to grow out of that though. Later in my childhood, I had a lot of problems that I can trace back to my desire to be like everyone else. So it's important to me that I do my best to teach Gavin how important it is that he stays true to himself.
