Project disConnect

It's not you, it's me.

I love blogging, if you haven't noticed. I have blogged my way through school, work and unemployment. I really enjoy sharing with the world and meeting new people. It has been amazing. I also enjoy the opportunity that facebook and similar social networking tools provide. It's a good way to stay in touch and communicate with people.

But sometimes I feel like it's almost addictive. Or maybe I'm just not good at finding a balance (I'm not). When your child does something cute or funny and you start thinking that this will be a part of your next facebook status... well... I find that slightly disturbing.

Oh, and I'm also a bit of a google addict...

So I'm taking a break. Since I'm not good at balance, I'm going to just take some time off. I'll see how it feels, and then get back into things. I don't have any intentions of shutting this blog down, that is not where this is heading. I just want to have some time to remember what life was like before I was so plugged in. I'm curious how much extra time I'll have and what I will fill that time with!

I have put together a bunch of posts ahead of time, so that my blog doesn't sit in total limbo for the duration of Project disConnect. I will also continue using my email addresses and skype because these are some of the key ways I stay in contact with my family. So if you want to chat, email me! Also, I'd love for you to keep commenting on posts if you feel drawn to. All comments are sent to my email, so I will still be receiving your lovely comments. If you are expecting a response, however, you'll need to leave your email in the comment or email me!

Project disConnect starts tomorrow and will run for 2 weeks. That means I'll be back on the 24th. Hopefully I'll have some thoughts to share on the topic when I return.

Wish me luck!

You deserve a break from your busy internet life. I am glad you got some posts ready ahead of time because many of us love to read your blog. In the meantime, we really should skype sometime. :)

Good for you! It's always amazing what can get done when we walk away from the laptop.

Thanks for the lovely comments, I'm happy to hear support and understanding from my wonderful readers! I have posts scheduled for almost everyday, so you won't even notice I'm gone! And I hope we are all right that it will be a nice break to get off the computer for a while. :) Talk to you in two weeks!
(Except for you, Mom, and yes, we should skype soon.)
