Dragon Tee

Good Morning!

Have you seen the movie How to Train Your Dragon? I have seen it more times than I would probably like to admit. I could just say that my little guy loves it, because he does, but I love it just as much as him. I've been dying to make him some cool shirts because I always see so many inspiring ideas online... so I finally did. I made him a t-shirt with Toothless (the main dragon from How to Train Your Dragon) on it.

I found an image of the dragon online, traced it in the silhouette software and then modified a bunch of stuff. I got rid of all the small and unnecessary dots and lines and I made sure all of the others were joined (except for the eyes and nostrils). I also made him look happy instead of angry. I sent some heat transfer material through my silhouette and then peeled away the outline. Then I ironed it on some black knit fabric and made it into an applique on a plain grey tee. It looked a little too plain so I smudged black fabric paint around the applique and I like how it turned out! I also used freezer paper to stencil "i ♥ dragons" on the back.

The best thing of all? Gavin loves the shirt! :)

My 3 year old son would love to have this. I dont have a silhouette. Any ideas how I could do this?

Hmm, I'm not sure. You could try and do it using freezer paper, but it would be a very picky job. I could send you a jpg copy of the template if you wanted to try to do something with it.

If you want me to, either send me an email or leave me a comment with your email address!
