Gavin's Bedding (and a tutorial in the works!)

Saturday, November 6, 2010

Good Morning!

First things first. For the past few months I have been referring to my son as Cookie Crumb, little man, etc. I have never used his name on here (as far as I know, at least) and I don't really know why. When I first started the blog I wasn't using my family members' names. I guess maybe it was because I felt like I was writing all of this stuff and sending it off to be read by strangers. Now that I've gotten used to blogging, it doesn't feel so strange. So, for those of you who don't know, his name is Gavin. :)

Anyways, remember the quilt I made for him? Well he has come to love it and so have I, but it doesn't match his crib sheets. I love his crib set, but now that he has graduated to a "big boy bed" (his crib with one wall removed) I think he deserves a matching big boy bedding set. I started yesterday with the fitted sheet. I used this tutorial over at MADE. [It was wonderful and worked perfectly, thanks Dana!] Then I decided I wanted to make a dust ruffle for the crib because I love using every bit of space I can for storage, but I hate looking at it. So for today, I have his wonderful, matching bedding for you to look at. And since I masterminded the dust ruffle on my own, I'm going to put a tutorial together so you can make one too. I'm also working on a tutorial for this quilt. More on all that later... As you can see, I also need to make a pillowcase to match, which is on my To Do list today!

wow! It turned out great! I also checked out the orange quilt you made your nephew. They are both so cute! I would love some one of a kind bedding for my kiddos... alas, I don't quilt.

Good job!

Thanks, Kimberly! And I don't quilt either, I've just made these two, and they really aren't quilts in a traditional sense. They aren't "quilted" or tied or anything, if you can sew, you could make these. :)
