Crayon Wreath

Monday, September 5, 2011

I saw a crayon wreath for the first time a couple weeks ago on Pinterest and I fell in love. I'm not a huge wreath fan, but it was just so bright and fun. Obviously they make great gifts for teachers and I just happen to have a sister who is a Pre-K/Kindergarten teacher. She just finished up her maternity leave and started at a new school, too, so I pretty much had every reason to try making one of these babies! I found the source of the pin that was my inspiration {You can find the basic instructions here.} and went from there.

I used some yellow knit fabric that I found in my mom's stash. It wraps great because of the stretch and doesn't fray! I glued that onto the foam wreath and glued the crayons on top. I found the little wood sun, bird and letters at Michael's for next to nothing. I painted the letters myself, but the other two objects were pre-made. Finally I just tied a ribbon on for it to hang from. I love how it turned out!

It looks so cute in my classroom! Thank you!

My students were pretty amazed by it too when they saw it on Friday. I think the comments went something like "Whoa, look - CRAYONS!" Somehow they've never been that excited about the crayons sitting out on the counter below! :P

Love it! I pinned it to my Pinterest board for the future! This would make a great teacher appreciation gift.
