Well, it looks like I'm on the right track for creating/creatively altering my son's clothes this year. I made another t-shirt yesterday. On a recent search for blank, but coloured toddler t-shirts I found only ones with pockets (well, just before I found the ones that were totally plain). So I bought a few. Initially I thought maybe I could take the pocket off, but instead of doing it I tried to find ideas for working with the pocket. I did a quick google search and saw this shirt which gave me the idea of octopus tentacles coming out of the pocket. Here is what I came up with...
I found a little clip art octopus, trace his tentacles on my silhouette design studio, altered them a bunch, added a tentacle, and so on. Then I sent some flocked heat transfer materiel through my silhouette, ironed it on, painted inside the lines, then ironed it some more. I'm very happy with it and I feel excited, no longer annoyed, at the prospect of decorating shirts with pockets! :)

That is adorable!! Have you thought of having a little creature peeking out of a pocket? He could have little fingers on the edge of the pocket and a little head on the t-shirt peeking out.
Oh wow! That is SO cute. I love the texture, especially with the suction cups on the tentacles!
Thanks! The painting got a little sloppy around the tentacles where it was hard to get in the spaces, but it turned out fine. The outline is made of the same flocked yellow stuff as those shirts I made for Ben.
And my first idea, before seeing the monster-in-the-pocket shirt was to have Elmo peeking out of the pocket, something I still might have to try!
I love it!!! There are so many possibilities of creatures peeping out or critters jumping in. :D
Can I post this on my blog? Let me know through email :D I'd love to share!
Thanks, Sarah! I just sent you an email. :)
