For my son's birthday we bought him a wood fruit cutting set, like the Melissa and Doug one, but not that brand. It came with fruit, a toy knife, cutting board and a metal grocery basket. Great, except that the metal grocery basket seemed to be colliding with the walls more often than we would like! So I decided to make the little man something to carry toys around in that will be friendly to these rented walls.
I made him this felt bag. It is very simple, but I used a couple layers of felt so it's heavier duty. I also used my brand new pinking shears for the first time which was awesome! I made the applique on the front by finding a font I liked on my computer, cutting it out of freezer paper using my silhouette and then ironing it onto the felt to cut around. (Note: remember to use a VERY low setting when ironing felt) I also ironed interfacing on the back to make the cutting easier and to prevent the yellow from looking a little grey when appliqued!

Thanks! Yes, I didn't know books would get worn so quickly, but when little people use them for teething, standing on, throwing, hitting, etc, they sure do show it. I love it, though, they have so much more character! :)
